Grupotec are pleased to have submitted their planning application to address the climate emergency and invest in the rural economy with the Ancona Solar Farm in Hacheston.

In line with East Suffolk Council’s guidelines, they hope to receive a decision later this year.

The proposal would provide several important benefits, which you could highlight in your letter of support:

  • A generous Community Benefit Fund, worth up to £400,000, to invest in green infrastructure and other community-based schemes for nearby rural communities.

  • An impressive Biodiversity Net Gain, well over and above national planning policy, with bee banks, bird and owl boxes, wildflower planting, new native trees and hedgerows.

  • A green buffer, with new hedgerow, tree planting and wildflower meadows to reinforce the existing mature tree belts and ensure the site is well screened from view.

  • A convenient construction route which means that no construction traffic or HGVs will pass through Wickham Market, Hacheston, Easton or Framlingham in order to install the solar farm.

  • New drainage measures, from swales and attenuation basins to native planting, mean that this site will better control surface water run-off and soak up water.

  • A commitment to Sheep grazing across the site, with an MOU already signed with a local shepherd, to maintain an agricultural use for the site.
